The beams are also available throughout the sub-continent (including Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, South-East Asia (including Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Tonga). Ten Sports and media company NBC Universal launched a new, free, cricket-focused multi-platform sports portal, which made its debut with the Web cast coverage of the first match in the series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on September 8, 2009. NBC Universal Digital Solutions (NBCUDS) will syndicate live cricket Web cast to its selected syndication partners for wider distribution. The portal featured live Web cast of full cricket matches that encompass exclusive content from half of the world’s cricket boards, including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Following the purchase of the company by Zee Telefilms, this venture ended.
Australia received a live transmission of the TEN Sports broadcast during the Australia V Pakistan cricket ODIs in April and May 2009 on cable television station Fox Sports. Australia received on air graphics of TEN Sports, as well as local commentary, however during drink and lunch breaks, Fox Sports returned Australian viewers to their studio for a panel discussion focusing on Australian developments, hosted by either Nick McArdle or Brendan Julian with two other panellists. Coverage began live around 8:30pm Australian Eastern Time, ending around 5am the following day.
In 2010, Taj Entertainment Network reached a multi-million dollar deal with the U.S based Goal TV, securing the broadcast rights of the Spanish La Liga and Serie A matches in the sub-continent.[5][6]
The Spanish League rights will return to ESPN Star Sports from the 2012-13 season.[7]
In August 2010, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) launched Ten Cricket, a 24-hour channel dedicated to cricket.[8] The channel will cover international cricket in Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe, whereas certain domestic cricket from South Africa will also be telecasted.[9]
